The Spirit spoke to me a few days ago about Living for God and also, Suffering for Being a Christian! As I opened up my bible, The Spirit sent me to 1 Peter 4.
In Peter 4, the word speaks about Living for God. When I read the scriptures, I instantly knew that this was supposed to be a message for the Daily Morsel Group. It was a call. A call to wake up. A call to rise to our rightful place and purpose in the perfect will for our lives, however prior to achieving all that God has for us, he calls us to LIVE totally for him!
1 Peter 4:3 says, "For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do ---living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and testable idolatry."
1 Peter 4:7 goes on to say, "The end of all things is near, Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength that God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen."
WOW! THAT IS A POWERFUL REMINDER! Even if you haven't engaged in orgies or lived a drunken lifestyle, we all have fell short of the glory of GOD and can live a BETTER and holy Life for the Lord. He tells us that we need to do this because the end is near......we have to be clear minded and self-controlled so that we can pray for ourselves and others. He is asking us to use the GIFTS that he has given us to SERVE others, thereby fully serving HIM! THESE scriptures alone should motivate you to say: "BRING IT ON....LET's GET IT"!!!! It's time to go from Jeezy to Jesus!!!! (Everyone who knows me, will surely understand this statement :) !
As I continued to read, The Spirit humbled me as to what surely will come when you are living for GOD! He brought me to 1 Peter 4:12, which reads, "Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you."
It was just what I needed to hear. I was not alone in the suffering. It wasn't something strange that was JUST happening to me, but certain things were happening, solely because I am a believer, but guess what? I AM BLESSED and the definition of blessed is not the "thing".....it is not the house, the job or the car. To be blessed is to be empowered to succeed at what God has called me to do. I am blessed and highly favor and a Child of the Most HIGH!!!! I know you will be encouraged and this week will be a GREAT week for all of us! Let us join together in prayer and hold each other up, as we are brothers and sisters in Christ! I love you all! - Crecia
